Evidence levels

Every leak carries two facts: the strongest evidence behind the claim and the claim’s current status.

  1. E1

    Rumour

    No source, second-hand or speculative.

  2. E2

    Weak source

A single, anonymous or unverifiable source.

  3. E3

    Reliable source

A source with a correct track record, or two independent sources.

  4. E4

    Verifiable trace

A concrete trace anyone can check: code, an app build, an API response, a document.

  5. E5

    Official

The company’s own statement, or the product itself.

How a level is set

  • The level follows the strongest evidence that can be checked, not how interesting the claim is.
  • A screenshot on its own counts as E2 at most.
  • Accounts repeating the same first source count as one source.
  • When a level changes, the story says so, with the date.
